Improving food security, nutrition and income for smallholder farmers in Teso and Karamoja regions. Our food security initiatives have improved access to nutritious food and household incomes for over 4,000 households in vulnerable regions of Teso and Karamoja, while strengthening local food systems through sustainable agricultural practices.

Food security

• Enhanced access to better seed, distributing drought tolerant seeds to 3,500 households during the five-year period, ensuring improved yields and income for small household farmers in Teso and Karamoja regions.
• Distributed emergency food aid to 1,200 households and 80 malnourished children during the 2023 drought crisis in Karamoja region, ensuring immediate relief and preventing food-related health issues.
• Trained 3,500 smallholder farmers in climate-smart agriculture techniques, resulting in a 30% increase in crop yields and improved food self-sufficiency.
• Established 40 community seed banks groups to reduce post-harvest losses and enhance year-round food availability.
• Launched women-led kitchen garden initiatives, reaching 2000 women and contributing to household dietary diversity and income generation.
