Social empowerment

This focused on rights awareness, health, education, safety and participation in community life. During the 5 years, from 2018 to 2025 strategic implementation, we have;

  1. Partnered with local schools and health centers to improve access to reproductive health education, reaching 2,500 adolescent girls.
  2. Provided gender rights training to 5,600 women and girls, resulting in increased reporting of GBV and stronger community advocacy networks.
  3. Established 237 Self Help Groups in Teso and Karamoja regions, availing the women psychosocial support and peer mentoring.

Economic Empowerment:

  1. Established 237 SHGs as a microfinance initiative that supported 5.600 women to access finances and financial services with these savings groups increasing household income and financial decision-making power.
  2. Trained 5,600 women in entrepreneurship, Business and vocational skills, with 80% starting income-generating activities within this period.

Political Empowerment

During this period, we focused on training women on leadership, civic participation and advocacy skills, achieving the following;

  1. Facilitated dialogues between women’s groups and local authorities, resulting in three new gender-responsive bylaws at the district level.
  2. Trained 5,600 women on leadership, governance, public speaking, and advocacy skills as a result, 50% of whom were elected to local councils or community leadership positions.
  3. Supported the creation of 20 community level association as women forum that now actively participate in local planning and budget discussions.
