Prof. Francis Omaswa is Founding Executive Director of African Centre for Global Health and Social Transformation (ACHEST), an initiative incorporated in Uganda and promoted by a network of African and International Leaders in Health and Development. Until May 2008, Prof. Omaswa was Special Adviser to the World Health Organization (WHO) Director General and Founding Executive Director of the Global Health Workforce Alliance.
He is a graduate of Makerere Medical School, Kampala in Uganda, fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, founding president of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa, senior associate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and overseas member of the National Academy of Medicine in the United States.
Before joining GHWA, he was the Director General for Health Services in Uganda’s Ministry of Health, where he was responsible for coordinating and implementing major reforms in the health sector, including quality assurance and decentralization.
Among Prof. Omaswa’s many accomplishments and leadership roles in the global health community, he was Founding Chair and later served as Vice Chairperson of the Global Stop TB Partnership, one of the architects of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.
He has also served as chair of the portfolio and procurement committee of the Global Fund Board, member of Steering Committee of the High-Level Forum on health-related MDGs and participated in drafting the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness.
Social Worker and journalist, Otim Richard has since crafted out a niche for social and behaviour change communication. He loves sharing experiences of others to influence impact-full social transformation and fanned by a passion for social change through the various transformational communication approaches. He believes in the power of storytelling to spark impactful social and mindset change in our communities, inspire action and other constructive solution-driven narratives. Whether digging deep into a social issue or highlighting inspiring local heroes, Richard’s goal is always to influence positive action. Richard loves connecting with people from all walks of life and sharing their stories to create awareness and inspire others. When not writing, you can find him exploring the great outdoors. Eriau Richard is a highly motivated and experienced professional with over 15 years of experience in education, community development, and project management with proven track record of successfully implementing projects on land justice, social accountability, governance and human rights, building strong partnerships and improving community outcomes. He has previously worked with Teso Anticorruption Coalition (TAC), Soroti Catholic Diocese Justice and Peace Commission (SOCAJAPIC) and Soroti District Local Government. Additionally. Richard has a strong background in promoting transparency and accountability in public resource management. His experience in community scorecards, social audits and public expenditure tracking systems has helped empower citizens to engage more effectively with their government. His expertise is in a wide range of impactful initiatives, including promoting fairness and equality, women’s land rights, advocating for property rights, cross-border peacebuilding and fostering peace and cooperation between communities. Currently, Richard serves as a Project Officer with VISION TERUDO, working on a mentorship program that supports young fathers to be responsible, engaged and Loving spouses. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Democracy and Development Studies (BaDDS) from Uganda Martyrs University-Nkozim Grade III Teaching Certificate from Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo (ITEK) and Certificate in Project Planning and Management from Uganda Management Institute (UMI).
Livingstone Ochan is a dynamic and results-oriented Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist with experience spanning five years. His passion lies in designing and implementing robust Monitoring and Evaluation Systems and work-plans that not only track progress but also ensure that interventions are impactful, sustainable and aligned with needs of the communities and programs across East Africa. Livingstone currently serves as the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Vision TERUDO, where he leads performance tracking, data analysis and reporting for multi-sectoral projects. His previous roles include Assistant M&E Officer at COU-TEDDO, Assistant MEL Officer at Child Relief and Support Organization in South Sudan and Associate Researcher at Environmental Planning and Management Consults.
Livingstone holds a Bachelor in Science Quantitative Economics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation and possesses advanced analytical skills and a deep understanding of results-based management with hands-on experience in thematic areas such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Climate Change Adaptation, Nutrition, Livelihoods, Good Governance and Positive Parenting.
Livingstone is proficient in a wide range of data analysis and visualization tools including Excel, SPSS, STATA, MS Access and MS Power BI, currently enhancing his technical capacity through an online course in SQL. His work consistently contributes to evidence-based decision-making, improved program accountability and strengthened learning systems within organizations
